Denny Martinez was God's man to start Calvary Chapel Woodland. He had ministered locally as well as in Russia and Africa. From 1990 to 2000 he planted & pastored Calvary Chapel Vancouver in Vancouver Washington before being called to be a missionary to Sudan. Denny had been involved in ministry since 1984 as a Bible teacher, a pastor, a missionary, and a ministry leader as well as a Christian radio station manager and talk show host. The emphasis within his ministry was a verse by verse, systematic study of God's Word, bringing to light the simple application of scripture in today's culture. He was also very passionate about discipleship and leading people into a vertical focus to Christianity, always pointing to Jesus as our only priority in life. Denny came to know Christ as his Savior as a teen during the Jesus Movement in Southern California in 1968, and rededicated his life to Christ and ministry in 1983. He is survived by his wife and best friend of 37+ years, Lynette, in Woodland WA. Pastor Denny leaves three married daughters all serving the Lord living nearby in Vancouver, a son Zach, two grandsons, Calvin & Beck, and two granddaughters Isla B. & Posy James.
